Math Sprint is a fast mental-math game: you get 60 seconds to answer as many arithmetic problems as you can. Play it free in your browser with no download or sign-up, on a laptop, Chromebook, tablet or phone. Pick addition, subtraction, times tables, division or a mixed round, choose a level, and see how far a hot streak can push your score.

What Math Sprint trains

Every round is quick-fire mental arithmetic. You see one problem at a time, type the answer, and the next one appears straight away. It is practice for the number facts you use every day without reaching for a calculator: adding up a bill, working out change, splitting something evenly or checking a times table. Because the clock is running, it also rewards answering from memory instead of counting on your fingers. Practice mode takes the clock away when you want to slow down and get things right first.

Modes and levels

  • Addition and Subtraction: Easy uses numbers from 1 to 10, Medium moves to two-digit numbers and Hard uses three-digit numbers. Subtraction answers are never negative, so younger players never run into a minus sign.
  • Times tables: Easy covers 1 to 10 times 1 to 10, Medium covers the 2 to 12 tables and Hard mixes in bigger numbers like 17 × 8.
  • Division: every problem divides exactly, so the answer is always a whole number. It is built from the same tables, which makes it the perfect partner to times-table practice.
  • Mixed: all four operations shuffled together at your chosen level, the toughest test of switching gears quickly.

Times-table picker: in Times tables, Division and Mixed you can tap any of the tables from 2 to 12 to drill just those. Choose only the 7s, or the 6s, 7s and 8s together, and every multiplication and division problem will use them. Tap All to go back to the full set.

How scoring works

Each correct answer scores points equal to your current multiplier. You start at x1, and every 5 correct answers in a row bumps the multiplier up by one, to a maximum of x5. A wrong answer or a skip resets the streak to x1, so accuracy matters as much as speed. The game shows your accuracy as you go, and your best score is saved in your browser separately for each mode and level (and for each custom table set), so Easy addition and Hard mixed each get their own record to beat.

When the timer runs out, the results screen lists your score, correct and missed answers, accuracy, best streak and average time per correct answer, followed by every problem you missed with the correct answer next to what you typed. That list is the most useful part: it shows exactly which facts to practice next.

Tips for players

  • Don’t press Enter on correct answers. A right answer goes through as soon as you type it, so just keep typing. Enter is only needed to submit a guess or skip.
  • Protect the streak. A x4 multiplier is worth four quick answers. If you’re unsure, take a breath rather than guessing.
  • Use friendly numbers. For 48 + 37, add 50 + 37 and take away 2. For 9 × 7, think 10 × 7 minus 7.

Tips for parents and teachers

  • Start on Easy in Practice mode. Let younger kids get comfortable with the number pad before the timer starts.
  • Drill one table at a time. Use the picker to focus on a single table for a few rounds, then add the next one.
  • Use the missed list. The missed problems at the end make a ready-made list of facts to talk through together.
  • Compare with yourself. Personal bests are per mode and level, so each player can chase their own record instead of someone else’s.
