Math Games for Kids is a little arcade of six dinosaur math games for children ages 5 to 10. Pop egg pairs that make 10, count a field of dinos, pop the balloon with the answer, feed a hungry dino the bigger number, finish a pattern and hop along a number line. Play these math games free in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with no download and no sign-up.
How to play
Pick a game on the home screen. A round is 8 questions (5 egg boards in Egg Pairs). There is no timer, no lives and no game over: a wrong answer just greys out and your child tries again.
- Egg Pairs (number bonds). The nest shows a target such as 10. Tap two eggs that add up to it and they hatch. Clear every egg to finish the board. Levels run from Make 5 and Make 10 up to Make 20, then Make 100 with tens and with fives.
- Dino Count. Count the dinosaurs and tap the total. Small numbers start in dice patterns so kids learn to see 3 or 5 at a glance, then move to ten-frames and scattered groups up to 20.
- Balloon Pop (addition and subtraction). Read the sum and pop the balloon with the answer, from adding within 10 up to two-digit sums within 100 with regrouping.
- Hungry Dino (greater than, less than, equal). Two cards sit either side of an empty slot. Pick the dino mouth that opens toward the bigger side, or the closed mouth when both sides are the same. It starts with dot groups and grows to numbers to 100, sums like 8 + 3 against a number, and look-alike pairs such as 46 and 64.
- What Comes Next (shapes and patterns). Find the part that repeats and pick the next shape. Patterns go from AB to AAB, ABC and four-step patterns, where only the color or only the shape changes. Higher levels switch to counting by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s, and then skip counting up and down.
- Number Line Hop. First find the number the dino is standing on. Then the dino hops forward or back, and you pick where it lands before it hops there. Lines go 0 to 10, then windows up to 20, then tens to 100.
Levels, stars and stickers
Each game remembers its own level. Three questions right first time in a row moves up a level. A question with two or more misses, or two missed questions in a row, moves back down, so the game keeps pace with your child. A round with no more than one miss earns 3 stars, up to four misses earns 2, and any finished round earns at least 1. Every finished round also unlocks a sticker for the 24-sticker book of dressed-up dinos. Levels, stars, stickers and settings are saved in your browser on that device.
Parent settings
Press and hold the Parents button for 2 seconds to open the settings. You can hide any of the six games, choose the biggest number (up to 10, 20 or 100) and turn the sound off. It also shows each game’s level, rounds and stars. Levels that need bigger numbers stay hidden until you raise the limit.
Tips for grown-ups
- Start at “Up to 10” for ages 5 and 6. Raise it to 20 once Egg Pairs and Dino Count feel easy, and to 100 for second and third graders.
- Say it out loud. The speaker button reads the question aloud where the browser supports it. For patterns, saying “red, blue, red, blue” helps kids hear the repeat.
- Use the counting marks. If a child guesses in Dino Count, ask them to tap each dino first. The numbers show whether one was skipped or counted twice.
