Alien Game

Alien Game is a cute UFO game about a little green alien on a night out over the countryside. Fly your flying saucer low over the fields, switch on the tractor beam and collect cows, sheep, hay bales and bits of lost space junk, then fly each load up to the mothership before the farmers spot you. Play it free in your browser with no download or sign-up, on a computer, tablet or phone. Nobody gets hurt: every animal gets a gentle ride and is flown home at the end of the level, with a thank-you.

How to play

• Beam things up. Fly over an item and hold the beam. A ring fills while the beam works. Space junk lifts almost at once, sheep take a little longer, hay bales longer still, and a cow needs well over a second of steady beam. Drift off the item or let go too soon and the progress drains away.
• Mind the swing. Once an item leaves the ground it dangles on the beam and gets reeled up into your hold. It swings when you move, and heavy cargo reels in more slowly. If you switch the beam off halfway, the item floats gently back to the grass.
• Deliver to the mothership. Your hold carries three items. Fly into the dashed green dock zone under the mothership at the top left of the map to unload them. Docking also refuels the saucer.
• Watch your fuel. The fuel bar drains slowly when you hover, faster when you fly, and fastest while the beam is on. If it runs dry, the mission fails, so head home before it gets low.
• Don’t get spotted. Farmers sweep the sky with searchlights. About a second inside a beam of light fills the red detection ring and you’re spotted. Hot-air balloons drift across the middle of the sky, and bumping one knocks you back. Either one costs one of your three shields and makes you drop everything in your hold. Lose all three and the mission fails.

Levels and stars: there are 15 levels. Each one has a delivery quota, and later levels add more searchlights and balloons over wider farms with cows. Clearing a level earns one star, losing no shields earns a second and beating the par time earns a third. Your stars, unlocked levels, crystals and upgrades are saved in your browser.

Endless mode unlocks after level 3. New cargo keeps appearing and the farm gets busier every few deliveries. Your score is the value of what you deliver (cow 3, sheep 2, hay bale 2, space junk 1) and the run ends when your shields or fuel run out.

Upgrades

Every delivery earns crystals, and each star adds a bonus. Spend them in the hangar below the game. Each upgrade has three levels, costing 15, 35 and 70 crystals.

• Bigger beam: a longer, wider beam that lifts and reels in faster.
• Faster saucer: a higher top speed for quicker trips and escapes.
• Cloaking: press C (or the CLOAK button) to turn see-through for a few seconds so searchlights can’t spot you. Each cloak uses some fuel, then needs a short cooldown. More levels mean a longer cloak.

Tips

• Fly high, dip low. The searchlights can’t reach the very top of the sky, and balloons stay in the middle band. Travel high, drop down over your target, beam it up, and climb back.
• Time the sweep. Each light swings back and forth at a steady rhythm. Wait for it to pass, then dive in behind it. A quick pass through the light is fine, since the ring drains again once you’re back in the dark.
• Fill the hold before you go home. Three items per trip saves fuel and time, and time counts for the third star.

Is Alien Game free?

Yes. It’s completely free with no account and no install, and your progress saves automatically in your browser.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. On a touch screen you get a virtual stick for flying, a BEAM button to hold and a CLOAK button. You can also hold a finger on the sky to steer toward it. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys or WASD, hold Space for the beam and press C to cloak.

Do the cows get hurt?

No. The beam lifts them gently, anything you drop floats softly back to the ground, and at the end of every level the animals are flown home safe and the game says thank you.

Can I pause?

Press P or Esc, or use the Pause button. The game also pauses by itself if you switch tabs.

How is this different from Space Invaders?

Here you’re the alien, and there’s no shooting at all. It’s a sneaking and collecting game about beam physics, fuel and dodging searchlights.
