What letters should you guess first?
Frequency-based order for English: E, T, A, O, I, N, S, H, R, D, L, U, C, M, W, F, Y, G, P, B, V, K, J, X, Q, Z.
Start with vowels (A, E, I, O, U) — they reveal word shape fast. Then common consonants (T, N, S, R). By the time you’ve guessed 6 letters, you’ve covered ~60% of letter-frequency in the word.
Category-specific strategies
