What makes Boggle different from Scrabble?
Three things. No tile rack — you don’t manage your own letters; you find words in a shared grid. Time pressure — 3 minutes total, not turn-based. Adjacency — letters must touch (including diagonally). This last rule makes Boggle a spatial puzzle, not just a word puzzle.
Scoring in Boggle
Words score by length. 3-4 letters = 1 point. 5 = 2. 6 = 3. 7 = 5. 8+ = 11 (and you double for any 8+). The exponential scoring means finding ONE 8-letter word is worth 11 three-letter words.
Top players find words like INSULATE (8 letters, 11 points) by tracing diagonally across the grid. Most words come from 4-5 common letters. ED, ER, ING endings are everywhere.
