Sushi Game puts you behind a small sushi counter with four seats and a conveyor belt. Customers order with a bubble over their heads, and you make each dish by hand, then send the plate down the belt to the right seat. You can play this sushi game online free in your browser, with no download or sign-up, on a computer or a phone.

How to play

There are ten shifts, from three customers in shift 1 up to eight in shift 10. You always make the order of whoever has waited longest, and the ticket strip shows the seat, the dish and every step.

  • Nigiri pair. Nigiri is a small block of hand-pressed rice with a topping on it. A ring shrinks toward a dashed circle around the rice; tap, click or press Space when it meets the circle. Two presses shape each ball. Then pick the topping from the tray (salmon, tuna, shrimp or tamago) and tap when it slides over the rice.
  • Lay the nori. Maki rolls and hand rolls start with a sheet of nori, the dried seaweed used to wrap them. Tap when the sliding sheet lines up with the dashed outline on the mat.
  • Spread the rice. Drag over the nori to cover the dashed area. For maki, leave the strip along the top edge bare. For a hand roll, rice goes on the left half only. Rice outside the area costs points. Press Done, or cover it all and the game moves on by itself.
  • Add fillings in order. Tap the tray bowls, or press 1 to 6, in the order the ticket lists them. A wrong filling is refused and costs points.
  • Roll the mat. For maki, drag up slowly and steadily. Yanking it or pulling it back makes a loose roll.
  • Slice six pieces. A knife sweeps across the roll. Tap as it passes each of the five marks to cut six equal pieces.
  • Wrap the cone. A hand roll (temaki) is rolled by hand into a cone instead of being sliced. Drag clockwise around the dashed circle in one smooth lap.
  • Serve. The finished plate rides the conveyor belt past seats 1 to 4. Tap when it reaches the highlighted seat. A wrong seat counts as a miss, and so does a plate that goes all the way round.

Tips, stars and shifts

A nigiri pair is priced at $4, a hand roll at $5 and a maki roll at $6, plus $1 for each extra filling. Neat work earns most of the price, and a clean dish served to a patient customer can tip as much again. Patience bars run down, at half speed while you make that customer’s order; if one empties, the customer walks out and pays nothing.

Reach the shift goal for one star and the next shift unlocks. Each shift adds something new: maki rolls in shift 2, tamago and avocado in shift 3, two-filling rolls in shift 4, hand rolls in shift 5, shrimp in shift 6 and three-filling maki from shift 8. Later shifts also speed up the belt, rice rhythm and knife. Stars and best earnings are saved in your browser.

Tips

  • Keep the rhythm. The ring shrinks at a steady pace, so tap on the beat.
  • Spread in rows. Sweep back and forth in lines. It is quicker than scribbling.
  • Roll slowly. One long, even swipe up gives a tight roll.
  • Missed a mark? The knife bounces back at the ends, so it comes round again.

FAQ

Is Sushi Game free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with nothing to install and no account.

What is the difference between nigiri, maki and a hand roll?

Nigiri is hand-pressed rice with a topping laid on top. Maki is rice and fillings rolled up in nori with a bamboo mat and then sliced. A hand roll, or temaki, is nori wrapped by hand into a cone around the rice and fillings. Tamago is a sweet Japanese rolled omelet.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Tap for the timed steps and the tray, and drag to spread, roll and wrap. Dragging on the play area does not scroll the page.

Can I play with a keyboard?

Yes. Space is the tap action and, held down, spreads rice for you. Keys 1 to 6 pick from the tray, Enter is Done, hold the Up arrow to roll the mat and the Right arrow to wrap a cone. P or Esc pauses, and the game also pauses when you switch tabs.
