Road Crossing Game is an endless lane-hopping arcade game drawn in a bright, blocky 2.5D style. You guide a small dinosaur forward one tile at a time across busy roads, train tracks, rivers and grassy strips, and every run builds a fresh course in front of you. Your score is the furthest row you reach. You can play this road crossing game free in your browser with no download, using a keyboard, a mouse or a phone’s touch screen.
How to play
Each hop moves your dino exactly one tile: forward, back, left or right. Use the arrow keys or WASD, swipe on the game, or tap it to hop forward. The arrow buttons under the game hop in any direction too.
- Roads: cars and trucks drive across each lane at their own speed and in their own direction. If one touches you, your dino gets bumped flat in a cartoon squash and the run ends. Hop in right behind a car and out before the next one arrives.
- Train tracks: a signal post stands at the end of each track. When its red light starts flashing, a long, fast train is about a second and a half away. Cross while the light is dark, and never stop on the rails.
- Rivers: your dino can’t swim, so hopping into open water ends the run with a splash. Ride the logs that drift across the river and stand on the lily pads, which stay put. A log carries you along with it, and if it takes you past the edge of the board, you fall in.
- Grass: grassy strips are safe ground, but trees and rocks block the tiles they sit on.
The view starts creeping forward after your first hop, and it gets a little faster the further you travel. If you dawdle and fall behind it, a friendly pterodactyl swoops down and carries your dino away. Your best score is saved in your browser.
Coins and characters
Coins sit on some grass tiles. Hop onto one to collect it, and the coins you pick up are added to your total when the run ends, even if it ends in a splash. Spend them in the Characters menu on eight original dinos: Sprout is free, and the others cost from 20 to 220 coins. Each has its own colors and extras, from plates and spikes to a bow or a crown. They change only the look, never how your dino plays.
Levels mode
Besides the endless run, there are 10 hand-built crossings with fixed layouts, from First Steps with two quiet roads up to Grand Crossing, which mixes roads, trains, logs and lily pads. The goal is to reach the checkered finish line and its flag. Coin Run and Grand Crossing also ask you to collect a set number of coins on the way, shown at the top of the screen. Clear a level to unlock the next one. Your progress is saved.
Every course has a way through. The endless generator checks each new lane against the ones behind it and rebuilds any lane that would leave no open tile to reach. Roads always leave gaps, and two log lanes in a row always drift opposite ways.
Tips
- Read the lane ahead, not the one you are on. Before you hop onto a road, check that the next lane is clear too, so you don’t get stuck in the middle.
- Use sideways hops. Stepping one tile left or right on safe grass often lines you up with a better gap than waiting does.
- Ride logs toward the middle. Logs carry you sideways, so hop off before you drift near the edge.
- Don’t stall. The forward creep is slow at first, but it speeds up as you go. Waiting a few seconds is fine; waiting too long brings the pterodactyl.
