Dino Run

Dino Run is a free pixel-art escape runner inspired by the classic Chrome Dino game, redrawn with original art and a new twist: a wall of meteor fire is chasing your T-rex from the left. It plays in your browser with no download or sign-up, on desktop or on your phone. It’s an unofficial fan take on the dinosaur game and isn’t affiliated with Google.

How to play

Press Start and your T-rex sprints right through three zones: the Jungle, the Volcano and the Ash Wastes. Unlike the original, one mistake doesn’t end the run. Hitting a rock or log makes you trip, and falling into a pit costs you even more ground. Either way the fire creeps closer, and the LEAD bar in the corner shows how much room you have left. The run ends only when the meteor wall catches you.

• Jump rocks, logs and pits. Hold the jump key for a higher leap.
• Duck under low-flying pterodactyls, and watch for high fliers when you jump.
• Grab eggs for +25 points and a short speed burst that pulls you away from the flames.

Scoring: your score is the distance you run in metres plus 25 per egg. Your best score is saved in your browser.

Tips

• Pits are the real danger. A trip on a rock or log hurts, but dropping into a pit gives up more of your lead. Commit to a full, held jump over wide gaps.
• Eggs matter more as the run goes on. Early on you slowly pull away from the fire. Once the speed ramps up, the wall gains on you by itself, and egg bursts become the main way to win back ground.
• Don’t chase every high egg. Some eggs float up at pterodactyl height. If reaching one means a risky jump into a flier or a landing near a pit, let it go.
• Tap for small hops, hold for big ones. A short tap clears a rock and gets you back on the ground sooner, ready for whatever comes next.
• Use fast-fall. Pressing down in mid-air brings you back to the ground quickly, which helps when a low pterodactyl follows a jump.
