Obby Game

Obby Game is a bright, blocky obstacle course with 40 numbered stages. An obby is simply an obstacle course: you run, jump and climb from checkpoint to checkpoint past lava, moving platforms and spinning bars. Here you play as a chunky dino, and you can play the obby game online free in your browser with no download, on a keyboard or a phone’s touch screen.

How to play

Each stage starts at a green checkpoint flag and ends at a white one. Touch the white flag and you move on to the next stage, which becomes your new checkpoint. The counter in the corner shows where you are, such as Stage 17/40, along with the stage’s name.

• Move and jump: use the arrow keys or A and D to run, and Space, W or Up to jump. Hold the jump button for a higher jump, or tap it for a short hop. On a phone or tablet, use the left, right and JUMP buttons under the game.
• Fair jumps: you can still jump for a split second after running off an edge, and a jump pressed just before you land is remembered, so near misses usually still count.
• Checkpoints: touching red lava, getting hit by a spinning red bar or falling off the course sends you straight back to the start of the stage you are on. Lives are unlimited.
• Progress: your current stage, time, falls and best time are saved in your browser, so you can close the page and pick up where you left off with Continue.

Obstacles you will meet

Early stages teach one obstacle at a time; later stages mix them.

• Lava blocks: the glowing red blocks. Jump over them, never onto them.
• Moving platforms: white platforms slide sideways or ride up and down like an elevator, and carry you with them while you stand on them.
• Disappearing blocks: orange and blue blocks take turns. One color fades out while the other appears, and they blink just before they vanish.
• Spinning bars: red bars rotate around a dark hub. Wait for a gap and run under or jump past them.
• Conveyors: belts with yellow arrows push you along or hold you back while you stand on them.
• Trampolines: pink pads bounce you more than twice as high as a normal jump.
• Ice: pale blue blocks are slippery, so you take longer to speed up and to stop.
• Falling blocks: brown blocks shake for half a second after you land on them, then drop.
• Tiny ledges: thin green posts with barely enough room to land on.
• Wall-jumps: in narrow shafts, jump while touching a wall to push off it toward the other wall, and keep going back and forth to climb.
• Ladder climbs: hold W or Up (or JUMP on touch) on a gray ladder to climb it, then step off at the top.

Speedrun timer and skip tokens

The timer runs whenever you are playing and stops while the game is paused (P, Esc, the Pause button, or switching tabs). Finish all 40 stages to set a best time, which is saved and shown on the start screen.

After you clear stages 10, 20 and 30 you earn a skip token. Press Skip or K to jump past a stage that is giving you trouble. A run that uses a skip still finishes, but it is not counted for the best time.

Tips

• Watch first. Moving platforms, disappearing blocks and spinning bars run on loops that restart when you respawn, so watch the timing before you go.
• Jump from the edge. Your longest jumps come from a full-speed run that leaves right at the end of a block.
• Brake early on ice. Let go well before an edge or a lava block, or jump from the ice instead of trying to stop.
• Short taps in shafts. For wall-jumps, press jump each time you touch a wall rather than holding it.

Is Obby Game free?

Yes. It is free to play with no account and nothing to install. Press Start, Space or JUMP to begin.

What happens when I fall?

You reappear at the current stage’s checkpoint straight away. Lives are unlimited; only the Falls counter goes up.

Does it work on phones and Chromebooks?

Yes. On a phone or tablet, use the on-screen left, right and JUMP buttons, and the page will not scroll while you play. On a Chromebook or laptop, use the arrow keys or WASD and Space.

Can I change my character?

Yes. On the start screen you can pick one of six dino colors and a hat: a cap, crown, propeller hat, top hat, party hat or none. Your choice is saved.
