Number Game is a collection of four quick number puzzles in one free browser game: hit a target with arithmetic, draw a chain of numbers that follows a rule, find a hidden number with as few guesses as possible, and race the clock to make ten. Play the Number Game online with no download or sign-up, on a computer, tablet or phone. There’s a new Daily Target every day, and your streaks and best scores are saved in your browser.

How to play

Target Number

  • You get four, five or six numbers and a target. Combine two numbers at a time with +, −, × or ÷. The result becomes a new number you can keep using.
  • Each starting number can be used once. Results along the way must be positive whole numbers, so 7 ÷ 2 isn’t allowed. On Easy you can switch fractions on.
  • Easy has four numbers and you must use all of them. Medium (five numbers) and Hard (six numbers, targets from 101 to 999) let you use any of them.
  • Tap a number, an operator, then a second number. Or type a whole expression such as (7+3)*25. Normal precedence applies, so 2+3×5 is 17.
  • Every puzzle is checked by a solver that tries every combination with exact fractions, so a solution always exists. The game shows how many distinct solutions there are, and Hint reveals one step of a real solution from where you are now.

Number Chain

  • The board is a 6×6 grid of numbers with a rule at the top: each step +1, each step +3, each step ×2, each step −2, or every number a multiple of some number.
  • Drag from any cell through touching cells, including diagonals. Each step must follow the rule. Drag back one cell to undo it.
  • Let go once the chain reaches the goal length to clear the level. Levels cycle through the five rule types and the goals get longer as you go.

Higher / Lower

  • A hidden number is picked from 1 to 1000 (or 1 to 100). Type a guess and the game says go higher or go lower.
  • Par is the number of guesses a perfect binary search needs: 10 for 1 to 1000 and 7 for 1 to 100. Finish at or under par to score 100. Each extra guess costs 15 points.
  • The range bar shows which numbers are still possible. A guess outside that range is marked as wasted.

Make Ten

  • You get 60 seconds on a 6×7 board of digits from 1 to 9. Tap two touching tiles (diagonals count) that add up to 10, such as 3 and 7 or 5 and 5.
  • The pair disappears, the tiles above fall down and new ones drop in from the top. The board always has at least one pair to find.
  • Make another pair within three seconds to build a combo. A pair is worth 10 points times your combo.

Tips

  • Work backwards on Target Number. If the target is 347, think about what’s near it: 350 − 3, or 7 × 50 − 3.
  • Save your small numbers. 1s, 2s and 3s fine-tune the last few points, so don’t spend them early.
  • Always guess the middle. In Higher/Lower, guess halfway between the lowest and highest numbers still possible.
  • Use gravity in Make Ten. Clearing pairs low on the board shifts whole columns down and often lines up new pairs. Keep tapping quickly to hold your combo.

FAQ

Is the Number Game free?

Yes. All four modes are free to play with no account and no install. The Daily Target, streaks and stats are kept on your device.

Does every Target Number puzzle have a solution?

Yes. The game only picks targets that its exhaustive solver can reach with the given numbers, and it shows the number of distinct solutions.

How does the Daily Target work?

Everyone gets the same five-number puzzle on the same date. Solve it on consecutive days to grow your daily streak. Missing a day starts the streak again from one.

Can I play with a keyboard?

Yes. In Target Number, keys 1 to 6 pick numbers, + − * / pick operators, H gives a hint, Z undoes and E jumps to the expression box. Use digits and Enter for Higher/Lower, and arrow keys plus Space for Number Chain and Make Ten. P or Esc pauses Make Ten.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Every mode works by tap or drag, and Higher/Lower has its own on-screen keypad, so your phone keyboard doesn’t need to pop up.
