Diving Game is a side-view competitive diving game on the 3 m springboard and the 10 m platform. Time your takeoff, spin the somersaults in a tuck, pike or straight position, come out at the right moment and slice into the water with as little splash as possible. You can play Diving Game online free in your browser with no download, on a keyboard, a mouse or a phone’s touch screen.
How to play
One button does almost everything. Press it to act, hold it to stay in position, and let go to come out.
- Springboard takeoff: press to start the approach, then press again when the diver’s feet reach the green mark on the board to hurdle. When the diver lands on the tip, the board bends down and springs back. Press at the very bottom of that bend, when the timing bar on the right turns green, for the most height.
- Platform takeoff: forward dives use a run start. Press as the diver reaches the green mark near the edge. Back dives use a standing start with the diver facing the board or tower. Press at the bottom of the bounce or arm swing.
- The dive: keep holding after takeoff (or press in the air) to go into the dive’s position. Tuck spins fastest, pike a little slower and straight slowest. Let go to come out. Once you are out you rotate slowly and can’t go back into position.
- The entry gauge: while you are in position, a gauge in the top-right corner shows where your body would point at the water if you came out right now. Come out when the needle sits on the green mark at the bottom.
- Twists: on twisting dives, come out early and press Twist (Up arrow, T or the TWIST pad) once for each twist. Every twist has to be finished before you reach the water.
Scoring
The scoring is a simplified game version inspired by competitive diving, not the official rules. Five judges each give a mark from 0 to 10 in half points. The highest and lowest marks are dropped, and the other three are added up and multiplied by the dive’s degree of difficulty (DD). More somersaults, twists, a pike or straight position or a back takeoff raise the DD.
- Rip entry: enter within about 6 degrees of vertical, out of position, with every twist finished, and you make almost no splash. That is the best entry in the game.
- Deductions: judges take marks off for a weak takeoff, coming out too late, entering short or over-rotated, a splash, a missing or unfinished twist, or still being tucked when you hit the water.
- Medals: each meet sets gold, silver and bronze totals. Any medal unlocks the next meet.
Career and practice
The career has 8 meets, from a three-dive club meet on the springboard to a five-dive world final that mixes the springboard and the platform. The hardest dives include a forward 3½ somersaults tuck from 3 m and a forward 4½ somersaults tuck from 10 m. In practice mode you can pick any of the 18 dives and try it as often as you like. Your medals, best meet totals and best practice scores are saved in your browser.
Tips
- Height buys time. A perfect hurdle and board press gives you the most time in the air, which makes it easier to finish your somersaults and twists. After a weak takeoff, you need to come out a little earlier.
- Watch the needle, not the diver. The diver spins too fast to judge by eye, and the gauge already allows for the time you have left.
- Come out a touch early rather than late. After you come out, the diver can still line up a small error before the water. Coming out late leaves no time to correct, and judges also take marks off for a late come-out.
FAQ
Is Diving Game free?
Yes. No account, nothing to install.
Does it work on phones and Chromebooks?
Yes. On a phone or tablet, press and hold anywhere on the pool scene, and tap the TWIST pad for twists. The game area won’t scroll the page while you play. On a Chromebook or laptop, use Space and the Up arrow in any modern browser.
Can I pause?
Press P or Esc, or use the Pause button. The game also pauses if you switch tabs.
Are the scores real diving rules?
No. The five judges, the dropped marks and the degree of difficulty multiplier follow the general idea of the sport, but the marks, deductions and DD values are simplified for the game.
