Cashier Game puts you behind the cash register at a cartoon dino grocery store. Scan the groceries, weigh the produce, check coupons and count back the right change from a drawer of US bills and coins. You can play Cashier Game online free in your browser with no download, using a mouse, a keyboard or a phone’s touch screen.
How to play
Each shift brings 5 to 10 customers. Serve them one at a time:
- Scan the items: drag each item from the belt across the red scanner and drop it in the bag. You can also tap an item to scan and bag it in one go.
- Watch for double scans: if you drag an item back over the scanner, it rings up a second time and the extra line turns red on the receipt. Tap the small x next to it to void it before you total, or the customer will catch it and you lose a star.
- Weigh the produce: apples, bananas, grapes and tomatoes have a price per pound instead of a barcode. Drop them on the scale. The scale shows the weight and the price, such as 1.37 lb at $0.59/lb = $0.81.
- Press Total: once the belt is empty, the register applies any sale tags and shows the total.
- Take payment: some customers pay by card, so you just run the card. Others hand over exact cash. The rest pay with bills, sometimes plus a few coins.
- Count the change: tap the $20, $10, $5 and $1 bills and the quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies in the drawer to build the change in the tray. Tap a chip in the tray to take a piece back, then press Give change.
Shifts, stars and scoring
Each of the 10 shifts adds something new. Shifts 1 and 2 use whole-dollar prices, and shift 2 adds card and exact-cash customers. Shift 3 brings prices in quarters and shift 4 uses every coin. Shift 5 adds produce on the scale. Shifts 6 and 7 add sale tags such as “2 for $5.50” or “20% OFF”. Shifts 8 to 10 bring coupons, and shift 10 is a Saturday rush.
From shift 6 on, the register hides the change due, so work it out yourself: amount paid minus total. A Hint button shows it, but costs that customer’s fewest-pieces bonus.
You start every shift with three stars. You lose one for each mistake: a double scan, wrong change, a wrong coupon call, or a waiting customer who runs out of patience and leaves. Lose all three and the shift is over. Each customer you serve scores 10 points, plus 5 for a quick checkout and 5 more when your change uses the fewest possible bills and coins. Finish with at least one star to unlock the next shift. Your best results are saved in your browser.
Coupons and sales
The register applies sale tags itself. A “2 for” deal prices each pair together, and an odd item pays the regular price. Coupons need your judgment. Look at the expiry date and compare it with today’s date on the register. A “$1.00 off Cereal” coupon only works if there is cereal in the basket, and a “$3.00 off when you spend $15.00 or more” coupon only works if the order reaches $15.00 after sales.
Tips
- Count up from the total. For a $7.83 total paid with $10.00, count pennies to $7.85, a nickel to $7.90, a dime to $8.00, then two $1 bills to $10.00. That is $2.17 in change.
- Use big pieces first. Taking the largest bill or coin that still fits, again and again, always gives the fewest pieces.
- Watch the line. Waiting customers have a patience bar that turns yellow, then red. Tapping is faster than dragging.
- Learn without pressure. Turn on Practice to play any unlocked shift with no timer. Nobody leaves and mistakes don’t end the shift.
FAQ
Is Cashier Game free?
Yes. No account, nothing to install.
Does it use real money?
No. It uses pretend US dollars and cents at a made-up dino store, and there is no sales tax.
How is the price of weighed produce rounded?
The register multiplies the weight by the price per pound and rounds to the nearest cent, with exact halves rounding up. Percent-off sales and coupons are rounded the same way.
Can I play it on a phone or Chromebook?
Yes. Drag or tap items with your finger, and the game won’t scroll the page while you play. On a keyboard, Space scans, Enter totals, keys 1 to 8 pick bills and coins, and P or Esc pauses.
