ABC Alphabet Game is a gentle ABC game for preschoolers and early readers, roughly ages 3 to 6. It turns the alphabet into six short games: pop letter balloons, listen for letter sounds, match uppercase and lowercase letters, put letters in ABC order, trace letters with a finger and find the first letter of a picture. There are no timers and no way to lose, and every finished game adds a sticker to the sticker book. Play this alphabet game free in your browser, with no download or sign-up, on a tablet, phone or computer.
How to play
Pick a game from the six big buttons. Rounds are short: six balloons in Letter Pop, five questions in Letter Sounds and First Letter, and three boards, sequences or letters in the others.
- Letter Pop: a letter shows at the top, and four or five balloons float slowly up the sky. Tap the balloon with the same letter to pop it.
- Letter Sounds: tap the big speaker to hear a letter sound and a word that starts with it, like “buh, buh, ball”, then pick the letter that makes the sound. Show a picture gives a clue. The sounds use your device’s built-in voice. If there isn’t one, or spoken words are turned off, the game shows a picture and the word with its first letter missing instead, so it never needs audio.
- Upper & Lower: four big letters sit on one side and four small letters on the other. Tap a letter, then tap its partner. Matched pairs turn the same color. Clear three boards to finish.
- ABC Order: drag the mixed-up letters into the empty boxes in alphabet order, or just tap them one at a time from first to last. Each sequence is a short run of letters, such as G H I J.
- Trace the Letter: start on the green dot and follow the dotted path with a finger or mouse. Each letter is split into numbered lines, and an arrow shows which way to go. The path is wide and forgiving, but a scribble doesn’t count, so children learn to follow the shape. Both uppercase and lowercase letters are included.
- First Letter: look at a picture, such as an apple, a cat or a dino, and tap the letter it starts with. The word appears once you get it.
No losing, just trying again
A wrong answer never ends the game. The choice wiggles, a friendly hint appears (for example “That one is M. Can you find B?”) and your child tries again. After two tries the right answer gently glows, so every round can be finished. Nothing is timed: the balloons in Letter Pop just drift slowly and keep coming back.
Sticker book
Finishing any game wins a sticker, from a star and a rocket to a rainbow, a dino and an octopus. New stickers come first, so the book of 24 fills up before any repeats. The sticker book and settings are saved in your browser on that device.
Settings for grown-ups
- Letters: uppercase only (ABC), lowercase only (abc) or both mixed. Upper & Lower always uses both.
- Sound effects and spoken words can each be turned on or off.
- ABC Order length: 3, 4 or 6 letters. Three is best for the youngest players.
Tips for parents
- Start with uppercase. Big letters are easier to tell apart. Add lowercase, then switch to Both once your child knows most capitals.
- Say it together. In First Letter, say the word slowly (“aaa-pple”) before tapping. Hearing the first sound is the main skill behind early reading.
- Sing the ABCs for ABC Order. If your child is stuck, singing up to the letter usually shows what comes next.
- Watch for b, d, p and q. These mirror-image letters are tricky for many young children. Upper & Lower is a good place to practice them.
FAQ
Is the ABC game free?
Yes. It’s completely free, with no account and no download.
What age is it for?
Children about 3 to 6 who are learning letter names, letter sounds and how to write letters. Big buttons, short rounds and no timers keep it friendly for little hands.
Does it need sound?
No. Sound helps, but every game works silently. Letter Sounds uses your device’s built-in voice when it has one. Without a voice it shows a picture and the word with a missing first letter instead.
Can my child play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Everything works with touch, including dragging letters and tracing with a finger, and tracing won’t scroll the page. On a computer, use the mouse, or type letters on the keyboard to answer.
