Twister Town is a cartoon tornado game where you steer a little twister around a top-down town and swallow everything smaller than you. Start with leaves and trash bins, grow big enough for benches and parked cars, then work your way up to sheds, trees, houses and big red barns. Three rival twisters are growing at the same time, and the biggest one after two minutes wins. You can play this tornado game free online in your browser with no download, on a keyboard, a mouse or a phone’s touch screen.
How to play
Each round lasts exactly 2 minutes. You begin in the middle of town as the smallest twister, and every object you pass over that is smaller than you gets pulled in and adds to your size.
- Steer: use the arrow keys or WASD. With a mouse or on a phone, hold down on the town and your twister moves toward your pointer or finger. Let go to slow to a stop.
- Swallow smaller things: you can only pick up objects that are smaller than your twister. Anything bigger just stays put as you pass over it. The note in the bottom-left corner tells you the next kind of object you can swallow and the size you need for it.
- Grow up the ladder: leaves are worth 1, bins 2, benches 4, cars 9, sheds 16, trees 24, houses 40 and barns 70. Bigger pickups grow you faster, so move up the ladder as soon as you can.
- Watch the rivals: Gusty, Swirl and Breeze roam the town too. The scoreboard in the top-right corner ranks all four twisters by size, and colored dots at the edge of the screen point to rivals you cannot see. A dot with a white ring means that twister is bigger than you.
Twister against twister
When two twisters meet, the one that is clearly bigger (about 15 percent larger) swallows the smaller one and takes a large share of its size. Twisters of a similar size pass through each other harmlessly. If a rival swallows you, the round ends at once and you finish last. When you swallow a rival, it drops back into a corner of town a few seconds later at a fifth of its old size.
When the clock reaches zero, the twisters are ranked by final size. Your best size, your number of wins and your best finish are saved in your browser, so you can keep trying to beat your record.
Tips
- Head for the leaves first. Yards are full of leaves and bins. Sweep through a block or two before you go after benches.
- Cars line the roads. Once the corner note says you can take cars, follow a street and pick them up one after another.
- Avoid the big rivals early. The rival twisters chase smaller twisters they can see and run from bigger ones. Keep an eye on the ringed edge dots and steer away from them until you have grown.
- Turn the tables late. Swallowing a rival is the fastest way to grow, but only try it when the scoreboard shows you are well ahead of it.
- Bigger is slower. Large twisters move a little slower, and the view zooms out as you grow so you can plan your route.
FAQ
Is this tornado game free?
Yes. It is free to play with no account and nothing to install. Press Play, Space or tap the town to start a round.
Is it scary or violent?
No. The twisters are cartoon swirls, the town has no people in it, and swallowed houses and cars simply spin away into the funnel. It is a light, comic arcade game.
Does it work on phones and Chromebooks?
Yes. On a phone or tablet, hold and drag on the town to steer, and the game area won’t scroll the page while you play. On a Chromebook or laptop, use the arrow keys or WASD in any modern browser.
How long is a round?
Two minutes, unless a bigger twister swallows you first. Press P or Esc to pause at any time. The game also pauses if you switch tabs.
