Binairo is a logic puzzle played with just two digits, 0 and 1. It is also known as Takuzu or the binary puzzle. You fill a square grid so the digits follow three simple rules. Play Binairo online free in your browser with no download or sign-up, on a computer, tablet or phone. There is a new daily puzzle for every size, endless practice puzzles, and every grid has exactly one solution.

How to play

Some cells start filled in. These givens are shown a little darker and cannot be changed. Fill every empty cell with a 0 or a 1 so that:

  • No three in a row: three of the same digit can never sit next to each other in a row or a column. 0 0 1 is fine, 0 0 0 is not.
  • Equal counts: every row and every column holds as many 0s as 1s. A 6×6 row has three of each, and a 14×14 row has seven of each.
  • No twins: no two rows may be identical, and no two columns may be identical.

The puzzle is solved the moment the grid is full and breaks none of the rules.

Choose from five sizes: 6×6, 8×8, 10×10, 12×12 and 14×14. Pick Daily puzzle for the grid of the day or Practice for a new random puzzle every time you press New.

Controls and tools

  • Mouse and touch: click or tap a cell to cycle it through empty, 0 and 1. Right-click cycles the other way. Drag across cells to paint them with the same digit.
  • Keyboard: arrow keys move the white cursor, 0 and 1 enter a digit, Space cycles the cell, and Backspace or Delete clears it.
  • Rule breaks: with Show rule breaks on, cells are striped red when they form three in a row, when a line has too many of one digit, or when two full lines match.
  • Check: press Check or C to mark every cell that does not match the solution.
  • Hint: press Hint or H for the next logical step. The game fills one cell, highlights the cells that prove it and explains the reason in plain English. If any of your digits are wrong, Hint points them out first, and a second press clears them.
  • Undo and Redo: Z and Y, or the buttons under the grid, step back and forward through your moves, including hints.
  • Pause: press P or Esc. The grid is hidden while the clock is stopped, and the game also pauses if you switch tabs.

Your unfinished puzzle for each size is saved in your browser, so you can close the page and carry on later. Stats show how many puzzles you have played and solved for each size, plus your best and average times and your daily streak.

Binairo tips

  • Look for pairs. Two equal digits side by side must have the opposite digit on both ends. 1 1 always becomes 0 1 1 0 when there is room.
  • Fill the gaps. A single empty cell between two equal digits must take the other digit. 0 _ 0 can only be 0 1 0.
  • Count every line. Once a row has all of its 0s, the rest of it is 1s. Counting what a line still needs often rules out a choice early.
  • Watch nearly finished lines. When a line has only two empty cells left, try both ways in your head. If one way would copy a finished row or column, the other way is the answer.

FAQ

Is this Binairo game free?

Yes. There is no account and nothing to install.

What is the difference between Binairo and Takuzu?

They are names for the same puzzle. Both use a grid of 0s and 1s with the same three rules: no three in a row, equal counts in every line and no identical lines.

Does every puzzle have only one solution?

Yes. Each puzzle is built from a complete grid, and clues are removed only while the game’s step-by-step logic can still finish it. A separate solver then confirms there is exactly one answer, so you never need to guess.

How does the daily puzzle work?

Each date and size has its own puzzle. Solving at least one daily puzzle on consecutive days builds your streak.

Can I play Binairo on my phone?

Yes. Tap cells to cycle them, or drag to paint. The grid scales to fit small screens.
