Pipe Game is a classic rotate-the-pipes puzzle. Every pipe is already on the board, but each tile is turned the wrong way. Tap tiles to rotate them until water runs from the blue tank through every pipe and reaches every house, with no open ends leaking. Play Pipe Game online free in your browser, with no download or sign-up, on desktop or on your phone.
How to play
The board is a grid of straight, corner, T-junction, cross and end-cap pipes. The tank sits in the middle, and each end cap is a house that needs water.
- Tap or click a tile to turn it 90 degrees clockwise. Right-click, or press Q, to turn it counter-clockwise.
- Water flows from the tank into any pipe that lines up with it, and keeps going as long as the ends match. Connected tiles fill with blue water and the houses on them light up.
- A connected pipe end that points at the edge of the board or a tile without a matching opening leaks, shown by red drips.
- The puzzle is solved when every tile on the board is joined into one network. That means every house has water and nothing leaks.
- Brass tiles with rivets in the corners are bolted down. They already point the right way and can’t be turned.
Each puzzle has exactly one correct layout. The game tracks how many rotations you use. Match the par for three stars, stay close for two, and any solve earns at least one. Stars and unlocked levels are saved in your browser.
Levels, wrap boards and the daily puzzle
There are 30 levels. They start on a 4×4 board and grow through 5×5, 6×6, 7×7 and 8×8 up to 9×9. Five of the later levels, marked with a star on the level list, have wrap-around edges: a pipe that runs off the right side comes back in on the left, and the top joins the bottom. A dashed border shows when a board wraps.
The Daily tab gives you a fresh 8×8 puzzle every day, and some days it wraps. Everyone gets the same board on the same date.
Pipe Rush
Pipe Rush is a race against the water. The board starts empty apart from the tank and, on later levels, a few rocks. A queue shows your next five pieces, used in order.
- Tap any empty square to drop the next piece there. Water starts flowing when the countdown ends, so build a path from the tank’s outlet before then.
- The water moves one tile at a time. If it reaches a gap, a rock, the edge of the board or a pipe that doesn’t fit, it spills.
- Fill the goal number of pipes before the spill to clear the level. Each pipe is worth 100 points, and sending the water through both channels of a cross piece earns a 500 bonus.
- Press Flow now (or F) to start the water early, and again to speed it up: fast pipes score 150 each. Replacing a dry pipe costs 50 points. P or Esc pauses.
Each new level asks for more pipes, with a shorter countdown and faster water.
Tips for solving pipe puzzles
- Start at the edges. On boards that don’t wrap, a pipe on the border can’t point outward, so edge and corner tiles often have only one possible position. Fix those first.
- End caps are houses. A house tile has a single opening, so it can never point at another house. Two houses side by side must face away from each other.
- Count your taps for stars. Straight pieces only have two positions, so one tap is always enough to switch them. On a phone every tap turns clockwise, so work out the right position before you tap.
- In Pipe Rush, build early and long. Lay a winding path while the countdown runs, and leave room near the end of the path so awkward pieces have somewhere to go.
FAQ
Is Pipe Game free to play?
Yes. It’s completely free, with no account and no install. All 30 levels, the daily puzzle and Pipe Rush are open to play.
Is every pipe puzzle solvable?
Yes. Each level is built from a single connected network of pipes, then scrambled by turning the tiles. Every level is checked to have exactly one correct solution.
What does par mean?
Par is the number of clockwise turns needed to move every tile from its scrambled position to the solution. Solve it in par or fewer for three stars. Counter-clockwise turns can take you under par.
Does it work on a phone or Chromebook?
Yes. Tap tiles to turn them or place pipes. On a keyboard, the arrow keys move a cursor and Space rotates or places.
