Parachute Game is a two-part skydiving game: steer through rings in freefall, pull the ripcord, then fly your canopy through changing winds and flare onto a bullseye. There are ten drop zones, from a field to a moving ship deck and a rooftop pad, plus a daily jump. You can play this parachute game online free in your browser with no download, on a keyboard, a mouse or a phone’s touch screen.
How to play
Every jump starts at 1,500 m. The altimeter and the tape on the left edge show your height.
- Freefall: steer left and right with the arrow keys or A and D, or hold the left or right side of the game. Fly through the orange rings for points. Each ring you hit in a row is worth 25 more than the last (up to 300), and missing one resets the streak.
- Birds and clouds: flying into a bird costs 150 points and knocks you into a short tumble, so you can’t steer for a moment. Clouds are harmless, but inside one the screen turns white and hides the rings and birds.
- Pull the ripcord: press Space, the Pull button or tap the middle of the game. Pulling inside the yellow pull zone earns 200 points. Reach the red hard deck without pulling and the automatic opener fires, costing 300 points and limiting the jump to one star.
- Fly the canopy: the left toggle turns the canopy to the left and the right toggle turns it to the right. Turning makes you sink faster, and your speed over the ground is your own forward speed plus the wind.
- Flare and land: hold Space, Down or S, or both toggles at once, to flare. The flare slows both your fall and your forward speed, but it only lasts about three seconds before the canopy stalls and you start dropping again.
Scoring and stars
The landing scores up to 1,000 points for touching down within 1 m of the center, falling to nothing at 40 m. A soft landing keeps all of them, a firm one 75 percent and a hard one 40 percent, and sliding in very fast costs a little more. Your jump score adds rings, the pull bonus and the landing, minus bird strikes.
- One star: land safely on the landing area. This also unlocks the next drop zone.
- Two stars: land within 10 m of the center without a hard landing.
- Three stars: land within 3 m of the center with a soft landing.
Landing in the water, in the street below the rooftop or in the canyon below the mesa scores no landing points and no stars. Stars, best scores and your daily best are saved in your browser.
The drop zones
The first zone is a calm field. Later ones add stronger winds, wind that reverses partway down, more birds and clouds, smaller landing areas and a ship that keeps sailing while you descend, so you aim for where it will be. The Daily button builds a new zone, wind and ring layout from the date.
Tips
- Read the wind before you commit. The flags on the right edge show the wind at each height (longer and redder means stronger), and the windsock shows the wind near the ground.
- Stay upwind of the target. Drifting down onto the bullseye is easier than fighting back into a headwind.
- Land facing into the wind. It lowers your ground speed for a gentler, more accurate landing.
- Flare late. Start the flare about 3 to 6 m above the surface. Too early and the canopy stalls; too late and you land hard.
- Don’t turn low. Finish your last turn well before the flare.
FAQ
Is Parachute Game free?
Yes, with no account and nothing to install. Press Jump or Space, or tap the game.
Does it work on phones and Chromebooks?
Yes. On touch screens, hold the left or right side of the game to steer and tap or hold the middle to pull or flare, or use the buttons under the game. The game area won’t scroll the page. On a Chromebook or laptop, use the arrow keys and Space.
Can I pause?
Press P or Esc, or use the Pause button. Switching tabs also pauses.
Is this the parachute game from gym class?
No. The gym-class play parachute is a big fabric circle that a group lifts together. This game is about skydiving and landing a parachute on a target.
Is this a realistic skydiving simulator?
No. It borrows real ideas like the hard deck, steering toggles, wind that changes with height and the landing flare, but the heights and speeds are simplified.
