Marble Game brings the classic playground game of marbles to your browser. You play Ringer, the best-known ring game: 13 marbles sit in a cross in the middle of a chalk ring, and you flick your shooter marble to knock them out. Play against one, two or three CPU players, try 12 trick-shot puzzles, and win special marbles for your collection. It’s free, with no download or sign-up, on desktop or on your phone.

How to play

A game of Ringer starts with 13 target marbles in a cross at the center of the ring. Each player takes turns with a shooter, a slightly bigger marble.

  • Aim and shoot. Press on the game, drag back and let go, like a tiny slingshot. A short dotted line shows the direction, and the further you drag, the harder you flick.
  • Start from the line. Your first shot each turn is taken from the chalk line around the ring. Tap or drag outside the ring, use the Line buttons, or press A and D to move your shooter around the line before you shoot.
  • Knock marbles out. A marble counts as yours once it rolls completely out of the ring.
  • Keep shooting. If you knock at least one marble out and your shooter stays inside the ring, you shoot again from the spot where your shooter stopped.
  • Turn over. If you miss, or your shooter rolls out of the ring, the next player shoots from the line.
  • Winning. The first player to knock out more than half of the 13 marbles wins. In a game with three or four players, the game ends as soon as nobody can catch the leader, or when the ring is empty. Equal top scores are a draw.

The marbles bounce off each other and slow down as they roll, and the heavier shooter keeps rolling after a hit.

CPU players

Pick any mix of three opponents on the menu: Pip is easy and wobbly, Rosa is steady, and Ace rarely misses. You always shoot first.

Trick shots

Trick shots are 12 puzzle layouts. Knock every red marble out of the ring within the shots allowed. Blue marbles must stay in the ring, and your shooter must stay inside between shots, because each new shot is taken from where it stopped. They build from a simple flick to gates, fences, kiss shots and the full 13-marble cross.

Your marble collection

You start with a clear glass Clearie. Win games and solve trick shots to earn seven more, each drawn in its own style:

  • Cat’s eye: win a game against Pip.
  • Swirl: win a game against Rosa.
  • Galaxy: win a game against Ace.
  • Onionskin: beat all three in one game.
  • Bumblebee, Aggie and Steelie: solve 4, 8 and all 12 trick shots.

Tap any marble you own in the Collection to use it as your shooter. The choice is just for looks, as every shooter rolls the same. Your marbles, wins and solved puzzles are saved in your browser.

Tips

  • Don’t blast the cross. A hard break scatters marbles but usually sends your shooter out of the ring too, which ends your turn.
  • Pick the edge marbles first. Marbles near the ring line need only a gentle hit, and your shooter stops close by for the next shot.
  • Think about where you stop. After a hit, your shooter keeps rolling. Aim so it comes to rest near the marbles you want next.
  • Use cut shots. Hitting a marble off-center sends it off at an angle, which is how you steer it toward the nearest part of the ring.

FAQ

Is this the real game of marbles?

It follows the classic Ringer game. In the traditional version, 13 marbles are set in a cross in a ring about 10 feet across, and players shoot by knuckling down: one knuckle rests on the ground while the thumb flicks the shooter. Here you flick with a drag instead, and the ring is scaled to fit your screen.

Is Marble Game free?

Yes. It’s free to play with no account and no install.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Drag back with your finger and lift to shoot. Touching the game won’t scroll the page, so you can aim freely.

Can I play with a keyboard?

Yes. The arrow keys aim and set the power, Space or Enter shoots, A and D move along the line, and P or Esc pauses.

Are all the trick shots possible?

Yes. Every trick-shot layout has been solved within its shot limit. Some take a few tries to get the power just right.
