Play this word jumble game free in your browser, with no download or sign-up, on phone or desktop. There’s a fresh puzzle every day, plus an endless practice mode when you want more jumble words to solve.

How to play

Each daily puzzle has four scrambled words: two with five letters and two with six. Every scramble has exactly one answer, and it’s always a common, everyday English word.

  • Unscramble a word. Tap the letter tiles in the order you want them, or type on your keyboard. The letters fill the boxes from left to right. Tap a placed letter (or press Backspace) to send it back to the rack.
  • Check your answer. The word is checked as soon as every box is full. If it’s right, the row turns green and the next unsolved word becomes active. If it’s wrong, the row shakes and the letters return to the rack so you can try again.
  • Watch the gold circles. Some boxes in each word are circled in gold. Once a word is solved, the letters in its circles are set aside for the riddle.
  • Solve the riddle. When all four words are done, the riddle unlocks and its rack fills with the gold letters. Unscramble them into the answer, using the blank boxes as a guide to how many words and letters it has. Solve it to finish the day’s puzzle.

You can work on the four words in any order: tap a row, or use the Up and Down arrow keys, to switch between them. Shuffle mixes the tiles to give you a fresh look, Clear empties the current word, and Hint locks in the next correct letter (hinted letters show in gold and stay put).

Timer and streak: the clock starts with your first move and stops while the game is paused, and your time and hint count appear when you finish. Solve the daily puzzle on back-to-back days to build a day streak. Your progress, streak, best streak and practice stats are saved in your browser, so you can close the tab mid-puzzle and pick up where you left off.

Practice mode

Practice serves one scrambled word at a time, five or six letters long, drawn from the same list of common words. Solve it and press Enter or Next for another. Skip shows you the answer and moves on. Your practice streak counts solves in a row, and both a skip and a hint reset it to zero, so the best streak is a fair test of unaided unscrambling.

Tips for solving jumble words

  • Hunt for common endings. Pull out endings like -ER, -LE, -LY, -ED and -EST first. With six letters, spotting a likely ending leaves only three or four letters to arrange.
  • Pair up the consonants. Letters such as CH, SH, TH, ST, BR and CK often travel together. Placing a cluster narrows the options fast.
  • Shuffle before you hint. Seeing the letters in a new order is often all it takes for the word to jump out, and it doesn’t cost you anything.
  • Read the riddle early. The clue is visible from the start. Mulling over the pun while you solve can hand you the answer the moment the gold letters arrive.

FAQ

Is Word Jumble free to play?

Yes. It’s completely free, with no account and no install. A new daily puzzle unlocks at midnight on your device, and practice mode has no limit.

Can a scrambled word have more than one answer?

No. Every word was checked so that its letters spell exactly one common word, which means pairs like LISTEN and SILENT never appear. If you spell a different real word, the game will tell you it’s a word but not the one it wants.

What happens if I miss a day?

Your day streak goes back to zero, and the next daily you solve starts it again at one. Your best streak is kept.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The tiles are sized for touch, dragging across the letter rack won’t scroll the page, and the layout fits screens as narrow as 320 pixels. On a keyboard you can type letters, use Backspace, switch words with the arrow keys, press Space to shuffle, ? for a hint and Esc to pause.

Are the riddles the same as the newspaper puzzle?

No. Every riddle in this game is original, written for dinogame.gg, and the puzzle design is our own take on the classic word-scramble idea.
