Truth or Dare is the classic party game, here as a free card deck for one phone, tablet or laptop. On your turn, pick Truth and answer a question honestly, or pick Dare and do something silly. You can also tap Spin and let the game choose for you. There are 270 original prompts, and every dare is safe to do indoors, so it suits kids, families, sleepovers and classrooms. No download or sign-up.
How to play Truth or Dare
- Pick your categories: tap the chips on the menu to switch packs on or off, then tap Start.
- Truth, Dare or Spin: the player named at the top taps Truth or Dare. Or tap Spin: the highlight bounces between the two, slows down and lands on one.
- Flip the card: the card turns over with your question or dare. Answer the truth honestly, or do the dare.
- Done it: tap Done it when you have finished. The card counts for you and the turn passes on. Tap Next instead to pass without doing it.
- Skip: if a card doesn’t suit you, Skip swaps it for another card of the same kind.
Five categories, truths and dares in each
- Kids (54): favorite animals and superpowers, bunny hops, dinosaur roars and penguin waddles.
- Family (54): family traditions and best meals, opera singing, news reports and a museum tour of the room.
- Funny (54): wizard names and useless talents, nature documentary narration and a dramatic speech about missing socks.
- Creative (54): dream treehouses and new planets, made-up words, tiny poems and maps of imaginary islands.
- Teens (54): an optional pack about goals, advice and favorite books, with dares like a halftime pep talk or a shoe-tying science lecture. It is off by default and still clean.
Each category has 27 truths and 27 dares, all written for this game.
Safe, clean dares
Every dare can be done indoors with everyday things at most, like paper and a pencil for the drawing dares. There are no food or eating dares, so allergies are never a worry. There are no dares that involve phones, cameras or posting anything, no pranks, no touching or tickling other players, and nothing risky like spinning around or climbing on furniture. The truths stay friendly too: no crushes, no dating, no questions meant to embarrass anyone, and nothing about body image, religion or politics.
Players and turns
Tap Add players on the menu and type up to 10 names. The turn indicator shows whose turn it is, so you can pass the device around the circle. Names are saved on your device for next time. Tap End at any time to see how many truths and dares each player did, and how many they passed.
Deck features
- No repeats: the game remembers which cards you have seen, even after you close the page. Truths and dares each run through the whole deck for your categories before any card comes back. The menu shows how many are left.
- Favorites: tap the star to save a card, then play only your favorites from the menu.
- Shuffle: tap it twice to put every card back in the deck.
- Back: look at earlier cards again.
- Keyboard: T for truth, D for dare, R to spin, Enter for Done it, arrow keys to move, S to skip, F to favorite. On a phone, swipe the card left or right.
Tips for a fun game
- Set a passing rule. Agree up front that anyone can pass on any card, no questions asked. Next does exactly that.
- Keep it kind. Cheer people on during dares and listen to the truths.
- Mix it up with Spin. Letting the spinner choose keeps anyone from picking Truth every time.
- Pick packs for the group. Kids and Funny suit younger players. Creative works well for a class or a quiet evening.
