Web Weaver is a cute cartoon spider game where you weave a web across the gap in each scene and catch the flies and moths that buzz through it. Tap a twig, a nail or a thread, and your little purple spider shoots a line of silk to it and climbs across. The threads sag and bounce with simple rope physics, wasps try to tear them and rain soaks silk left in the open. There are 12 levels with three stars to earn on each, plus an endless Night mode. You can play it free in your browser with no download, using a mouse or a touch screen.
How to play
Each level shows a scene with a gap to fill, such as a garden gap between two flowers, a shed doorway, a bicycle wheel or a porch light. The small brown knots are anchor points.
- Shoot silk: tap or click an anchor, or any point on a thread you have already strung. If it is within reach, the spider fires a thread there and climbs along it. With a mouse, hovering shows the reach and the cost.
- Crawl for free: tapping a point on a thread the spider is already on makes it crawl there without spending silk.
- Catch bugs: flies and moths stick where two threads cross or run close together. A lone thread is not sticky enough and just bounces a bug away, but a dizzy bug that bounces into a different thread gets caught.
- Shoo wasps: in the levels, a flashing warning shows where a wasp is about to fly in. Tap the wasp to send it away. If it reaches your web, it tears through every thread it touches and the bugs stuck on those threads fall free.
- Watch the weather: when RAIN COMING flashes, threads outside shelter start to soak and break after a few seconds of rain. Threads under a roof, an awning or an umbrella stay dry.
Levels and stars
Every level has a silk budget and a target number of bugs. Catch the target before the time runs out or the bugs stop coming to clear the level and unlock the next one. Stars reward an efficient web: one star for clearing the level, two stars for staying under the first silk limit and three stars for an even smaller web.
Wasps arrive at level 5, the Rose Arch, and rain starts at level 7, the Rainy Shed. Later scenes such as the Bicycle Wheel and the Porch Light mix both with bigger targets. The bugs start out on the same routes on every attempt, so you can plan a better web on the next try.
Night mode
Night mode is an endless game on a porch at night. Moths circle the warm porch light while flies, wasps and rain showers come and go. Your silk refills slowly over time, and every bug you catch feeds the spider. A moth scores 2 points and a fly scores 1. The hunger bar drains faster as the night goes on, and the game ends when it runs out.
Tips
- Build a hub. String one long thread across the gap, crawl to its middle and shoot spokes out to nearby anchors. Crawling back to the hub is free, so each spoke only costs its own length.
- Weave where the bugs fly. Watch the first few bugs. A small web in the right spot beats a big one in the wrong place.
- Cross your threads. Two threads that meet or run side by side make a sticky patch. Threads far apart only bounce bugs around.
- Build under cover on rainy levels. A thread that pokes out from under the roof still gets wet, just more slowly.
