Mining Game is a dig-down mining game you play in your browser. You drive a small drill pod into a side-view world, tunnel through dirt, stone and hard rock, and bring ore back to the depot on the surface. Every sale pays for upgrades that let you dig deeper, stay down longer and survive the heat. The goal is to drill all the way to the glowing core 700 m down. It’s free, with no download or sign-up, on a computer, tablet or phone.
How to play
- Drive and drill. Move left or right, and press down to drill the tile under you. Moving into a wall drills through it. You can’t drill upward, so plan your tunnels.
- Use the thruster. Up fires the thruster and flies you back up your shafts. Falling a long way damages the hull, so tap the thruster on the way down to slow your fall.
- Collect ore. Drill into an ore tile to pick it up. Your cargo hold starts with room for six pieces. Ore you drill with a full hold is lost.
- Go home before the fuel runs out. Everything burns fuel, and the thruster burns it fastest. Drive to the depot at the far left of the surface to sell your ore, refuel, repair and buy upgrades. If the tank runs dry, you’re towed home for a fee and the cargo is lost.
Ore and depth
Ore gets rarer and richer as you go down. Coal ($15) is common near the top, copper ($35) takes over below that, then silver ($80) and gold ($160). Gems ($380) only show up deep underground, and fossils ($260) can turn up anywhere below about 100 m. The ground changes too. Soft dirt gives way to stone, and stone gives way to hard rock that takes much longer to drill without a better drill.
Reaching 100 m pays a $100 bonus, and every 100 m after that pays more, up to $3,600 at 700 m. These bonuses are a big part of your early cash, so a quick dive is worth it once your fuel tank allows it.
Hazards
- Lava pockets glow orange. Drilling into one burns 30 points off the hull, and each radiator level cuts that by 15 percent.
- Gas pockets look pale green with bubbles. Drilling one sets off an explosion that costs 22 hull and blasts open the tiles around it.
- Heat builds up below a safe depth that starts at 240 m. Past it the hull slowly cooks, and faster the deeper you are. Each radiator level pushes the safe depth down, up to 760 m.
If the hull breaks, you lose that pod and its cargo, and a spare pod starts again at the depot. You begin with three pods. Lose them all and the run is over.
Upgrades
The depot sells six upgrades with five levels each. The prices rise from about $100 to $7,000 per level.
- Drill: drills every kind of rock faster, up to five times the starting speed.
- Engine: faster driving and a stronger, quicker thruster.
- Fuel tank: grows from 12 to 68 liters.
- Cargo: grows from 6 to 40 pieces of ore.
- Hull: grows from 30 to 160 points.
- Radiator: resists heat and lava.
Fuel costs $2 a liter, repairs cost $3 a point and a spare pod costs $1,000. If you’re broke and nearly out of fuel, the depot tops your tank up to a third for free, so you can always go back out.
Tips
- Buy cargo and drill upgrades first. More room per trip and faster digging speed up everything else.
- Reuse one main shaft. Falling down an open shaft is quick and cheap, so dig side tunnels off it for ore.
- Watch the fuel bar on the way down, not just at the bottom. Climbing back up costs more than falling.
- Plan the final push. You don’t need to come back from the core, so one last dive with a full tank and a strong hull can make it even with some heat.
FAQ
Is Mining Game free?
Yes. It’s free with no account and no install.
Does it save my progress?
Yes. The game saves in your browser every time you visit the depot, so you can close the tab and press Continue later. Your five fastest trips to the core are kept on a best-runs table.
What is the daily dig?
Each world is built from a seed. New world picks a random one, and Daily dig uses the same world for everyone on the same day.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. Use the arrow pad under the game, or hold a finger on the game toward where you want to go. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys or WASD, and press P or Esc to pause.
