Three-player Skat under the international rules: you against two computer players over 12 deals. Win the bidding, take the skat or play hand, then declare a suit, grand or null game. As declarer you need 61 of the 120 card points. Jacks are the top trumps in suit and grand games.
Skat rules
Cards and deal
32 cards (7 to Ace in four suits). Everyone gets 10 cards and 2 go face down as the skat.
Forehand sits left of the dealer, then middlehand, then rearhand (the dealer). Forehand always leads the first trick.
Card points: Ace 11, Ten 10, King 4, Queen 3, Jack 2, 9-8-7 nothing. 120 points in all.
Bidding
Middlehand bids to forehand (18, 20, 22, 23, 24, 27, 30, 33, 35, 36, 40...). Forehand says Yes to hold or passes. Then rearhand bids to the survivor.
The winner is the declarer. If nobody bids, forehand may play at 18 or pass; if all pass, the deal is thrown in.
Never bid more than your game is worth: if the game value is below the bid, the declarer loses (overbid).
Games
Suit game (diamonds 9, hearts 10, spades 11, clubs 12): trumps are J♣ J♠ J♥ J♦, then A 10 K Q 9 8 7 of the trump suit.
Grand (24): only the four jacks are trumps.
Null: no trumps, cards rank A K Q J 10 9 8 7, and the declarer must lose every trick. Null 23, null hand 35, null ouvert 46, null ouvert hand 59.
You must follow the suit led (all trumps count as one suit). Otherwise play anything.
Game value
Value = base value × multiplier. Multiplier = matadors (with or without) + 1 for game, +1 each for hand, schneider, schneider announced, schwarz, schwarz announced, ouvert.
Matadors: the unbroken run of top trumps from J♣ in your hand plus the skat ("with"), or missing before your highest trump ("without").
Schneider: one side takes 90 or more card points. Schwarz: one side takes every trick. Announcements and ouvert are only allowed in hand games.
Scoring
A won game adds its value to the declarer's score. A lost game subtracts twice its value (ISPA rule, hand games included). Only the declarer scores.
An overbid game is lost at the lowest multiple of the base value that reaches the bid.
Seeger-Fabian option (tournament scoring): +50 for each won game, −50 for each lost game, and each defender gets +40 when the declarer loses.
A game is 12 deals (thrown-in deals count). Highest score wins. Kontra/Re and Ramsch are not played.
